It worked ok at first, but as I got deeper into settings re: CloudFlare CDN, and js/css details, at some point the Slider stopped working and was just an empty space.

I have no idea where it went wrong. I am using Enfold theme and Autoptimize. I did see in another thread that Enfold can be quirky, but I did not see any current comments about if y’all found any workarounds.

Any advice on getting the slider back up?
    Thanks
    Jon

  • I’d suggest to disable Autoptimize or disable the CSS/JS features of W3TC Jon, minifiers are jealous and thus shouldn’t be combined in order to avoid risk of conflicts.

    Hello @gatehealing,

I am sorry to hear you are having mentioned issues. I agree with the @optimizingmatters suggestion, and also if you are using Cloudflare minify, you should not enable minify in other caching solutions like W3 Total Cache or Autoptimize as that can cause conflict also.

    Hi @optimizingmatters and @vmarko

Since Autoptimize, W3 and CloudFlare all have so many moving parts, is there an ideal set up that uses the best of each product? In other words, does each product do something that the others do not do, and therefore shouldn’t be completely deleted? Specifically, Autoptimize does a lot more than I understand, and am not sure if I’d lose some benefit by removing it should W3 and/or CloudFlare not have its own version of that service.

So far, I am understanding that I should not have any kind of minifying turned on in different products? If W3 is the most robust, are there any Autoptimize features that I should keep in place (instead of deleting it altogether)?

Oh, and re: autoptimize,do y’all know if their use of the words “optimize” and “aggregate” are minifications? Are the minification of JS/CSS/HTML better on any particular product of these 3?

    Thanks y’all,
    Jon

    Hello @gatehealing,

Potentially all three can co-exist if configured properly.
I.E. you can use Cloudflare via W3 Total Cache and disable minify in both W3 Total Cache and Cloudflare but enabled Autoptimize minify.
Basically, options that are doing the same thing must not be enabled in more than one caching solution as it will cause conflict.

    Hi @vmarko

Thanks! I do use Cloudflare and have it set in the CDN area of W3, so that’s good to know . . . I think you are saying to have CloudFlare set up in W3 as CDN (see the question below), turn off minification in W3, and in Cloudflare (by going to my account at Cloudflare’s website)?

Question about setting up the CDN area in W3 though: What do I select in the CDN Type dropdown menu? I had experimented with several and currently have “StackPath (recommended)” chosen. FSD CDN Type is set as “CloudFlare.”

I really appreciate your help. Should I open a different thread with the setup question regarding CDN type?

    Hello @gatehealing,
In Performance>Extensions, there is a Cloudflare extension that you can enable. Please see this article and follow the instructions under “How to set up and configure CloudFlare for WordPress”
You should leave CDN disabled in Performance>General settings as Cloudflare is working via an extension.

AH! Disable CDN! I was not aware of that. Done!

Thanks! I’ll read the article and get back if I have any questions.
