    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    So I called my hosting provider, they logged into the DB and fixed the permissions so I could lot back in. But I just created a new post and as soon as I hit publish, it DID publish the post then locked me out again!!!!! wtf!

    Be interested in exactly what they (your host) did to fix that, if they will tell you.

    Just wonder if what you are experiencing is related to this trac ticket?

    Michael,
    I will call after I leave work today and report back to you with what their fix was…(and is for this new instance).

    Sounds much more like a problem with the web server (apache?) than WP. I have many WP 2.8 blogs running on my own Linux servers without a problem. I will be curious to head what your hosting provider says.

    A Forbidden message like that generally means that the files have the wrong permissions set on them, such that the webserver itself can’t access the necessary files.

    This could be because the files are owned by the wrong system user or have the wrong permissions. An automatic upgrade might have connected the files to the wrong user, possibly. Might have them check that on all the WordPress files.

    the fix..or temporary fix that is…was to use file manager to set the permissions of the entire wp-admin folder and the wp-config_php file back to their default 755. They switch to 666 (uh huh) and 644 respectively each time I publish a post or really anytime i make an ‘execute’ type funtion. At this point, they have no clue as to why. But it keeps happening, and i keep going in and forcing the permissions back.

    Weird. Running any odd plugins? WordPress does have permission changing code, but it only is used during upgrades and such.
