Just updated to WordPress 6.6 and the post/page editor lost its spacing and formatting. Also lost the ability to hover between blocks to reveal the + sign and add a block.

Disabled Advanced Ads plugins and the post / page editor works as normal again.

    Hi paulcola

    Thanks for reaching out.

I was unable to reproduce the behavior or identify a general issue with Advanced Ads and the latest WordPress update.

Can you please check if you’re using an ad blocking tool in your browser that maybe interfere in the behavior or try a different browser?
If you could provide any additional information, like a short video or any error messages from your WordPress or browser console while seeing the issue, this would be really appreciated.

    Best regards,
    Henning

Thanks Henning. I have tried in both Chrome and Edge, same results. I deleted all extensions in Chrome and tried. Same results.
Here is a video of my results:

As you can see, all the blocks are pushed together and the Add Block button is gone between blocks.

Here is an image of the console with AA enabled:

    Hi paulcola

I tried to identify the error messages showing on your screenshots.

The first one seems to be connected to your table plugin and is not connected to the behavior. The last ones indicating a missing or failing connection to the Rest API and may play a role in the seen behavior.

    GET https://theoverwhelmedbrain.com/blog/Wordpress/wp-json/gutenberg-templates/v1/setup?locale=user 404 (Not Found)

Can you please check if the behavior is the same while only Advanced Ads is active and all other plugins are deactivated? (You can test this on a live site using the health check plugin)

In addition, please ensure nothing like server settings or security plugins are blocking the Rest API access on your site. Maybe your hosting provider can give you a quite on this too.

If you could provide any additional information helping to reproduce the issue, this would also be very helpful.

    Best regards,
    Henning

    Hi paulcola

did you find time to check whether this is happening only using the Advanced Ads plugin as well?

    Best regards,

I deactivated all plugins except Wordfence and Advanced Ads. I can now confirm that when Advanced Ads is enabled, the formatting on my post in the Edit Post screen is affected. When Advanced Ads is disabled, the formatting is back to normal.

I installed on a second site as well and got the same results:

    Thanks!
    Paul

PS: In the health check, Rest API is available, so that’s okay.

Just updated to the latest Advanced Ads – same issue persists.

    Hi Paul

Thanks for the update on this one.

Can you please use the health check plugin to verify that this is also happening while only Advanced Ads is active? This way, we can exclude influences from a third-party plugin.

It would also be interesting if there are still error messages showing in your browsers console while the issue occurs.

I also noticed that the “Welcome to Advanced Ads” box at the top of the screen looks a bite off here. Is this also the same with all your different browsers? Are there any errors showing on the plugin page as well?

    Best regards,
    Henning

I’ve got screen shots and credentials I can share with you to log in if needed, but obviously can’t share that here. Is there a way to send you credentials to see for yourself?

If not, I can add all the screenshots and my findings in this thread… it’s just a bit of a chore to do so.

I used the Site Health option and saw nothing about plugins but I have a screen shot of that and the errors (that don’t have anything about plugins) that I saw in the console.

Let me know if you need me to paste all the screenshots.

As for the way the welcome message looks, I tried in two browsers, same look. After I install AA in another site, I get that message.

    Thanks!

At a minimum, you can download the Educavo theme and install Advanced Ads, then try to duplicate the problem.

Hi, are you still receiving these messages? I can create another video of the problem if needed.

    My setup:

    Windows 11
    Microsoft Edge
Themes: Educavo and Lifestyle Pro theme by StudioPress
    WordPress version: 6.6.1

    Hi Paul

    Thanks for the update.

I tried to reproduce the issue on my test page using the Educavo theme and Advanced Ads, unsuccessfully.

As for the way the welcome message looks, I tried in two browsers, same look. After I install AA in another site, I get that message.

This is how the welcome message after a fresh installation should look like:

From what I see in the video and the general behavior on the backend, I still expect some server or network or browser configuration to interfere with the behavior.

If you still encounter this behavior and to bring things forwards, please reach out to our support directly pointing to this discussion.

Thanks for testing! That’s the least I could ask for.

I ended up uninstalling it. It’s an issue I don’t have time to chase down, unfortunately. If I’m the only one experiencing it, perhaps it’s a fluke.

I’ll reach out to support if I want to do further testing. Thanks again.

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for giving it a try! I understand how frustrating it can be when time is tight, and you run into issues like this. It could very well be a one-off, but if you decide to revisit it and need help troubleshooting, don’t hesitate to reach out to support — they’ll be happy to assist. And of course, if there’s anything else I can do for you, just let me know.

Thanks again, and best of luck with your work!

    Cheers,
    Henning
