    Hi folks,

Shield has been working fine on several sites that I have for a long time.

The latest automatic update of the plugin has stopped all these sites working
and visiting the sites now you are just presented with a blank page. You cannot
access the WP Backed as again it’s just blank.

The only way I have been able to get around it is by deleting the plugin via
a file manager. As soon as delete the Shield plugin directory then the site
comes back and is accessible once again.

I have this plugin on several sites – any idea what could be causing this problem
and a way of fixing it without deleting the plugin altogether?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Sorry for the trouble you had with this. It was down to some PHP 5.4+ code getting caught up in normal execution. We normally have this wrapped up so that sites with older PHP version don’t get affected by it, but this slipped through.

This problem has been rectified with the latest release 6.9.2

Again, sorry for the trouble. We also highly recommend you look to moving your PHP verion up to at least 5.4. Nearly all hosting providers offer an easy way to achieve this and it’s unlikely at this stage to impact your site. Here’s a bit of background where I talk on this a little:

Hi – many thanks for the quick reply – appreciated!

In the end I renamed the Shield plugin directory and am now just
running a PHP compatability checker to ensure the other plugins won’t
have issues when I upgrade the PHP version.

Once that’s complete then i’ll upgrade the PHP and rename the Shield folder
back to the original name and hopefully all should be ok again.

    Thanks again!

if you delete the Shield plugin folder and just install the latest version you’ll be fine (all your settings will be retained).
