    Dear @tkama,

I like your plugin a lot.

But after your latest update, my page had the famous white screen!

After deactivating Democracy Poll (by renaming the folder), I was able to get into my site.

When activating Democracy Poll while signed into my page (by renaming the folder back to the original), everything works fine, incl. Democracy Poll.

But once signing off, the white screen re-appears until I deactivate Democracy Poll (by renaming the folder).

Degrading back to version 5.6.0 solves the problem.

Your fast help is asked for!

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Kind regards

    Michael

    I’m in the same situation.
After updating to 6.0.0, my entire site built with WordPress stops working with a 500 error.

If you are having trouble with this problem, first
Disabling the Democracy Poll plugin (if you can access the admin screen, go there; if not, rename or move the files on her server) will improve the website for the time being.

I decided to revert to 5.6.0 for now.

    The previous 5.6.0 version is

You can download it from the bottom of the page ??

Here the same situation. Last update of the plugin democracy poll gave a fatal error. Hope it can be fixed. Untill than I keep it disabled.

    Best regards,

Yep. 503 server error. The new update broke the site. Could not even login to admin url without renaming the plugin dir on the server first.

    • wp version: 6.4.3
    • php 8.2
    • theme: Blocksy

I recommend to the dev to reach out and build a team to help out. This cool plugin deserves better support and would be easy to monetize w/ a pro version.

    Hello @wordmax,

what the f*** are you talking about? Monetize?

I like the idea of serving the community, of giving and taking.

My plugins are free and I use free plugins.

This is the idea of open source projects.

What I hate: feed a number of people, make them depending on a plugin and then strip it a bit and provide a “pro”-version in exchange.

I, e.g., developed a plugin called “Foodle”, which takes advantage of Democracy Poll and adds some features. This plugin is free and it will remain free.

    Regards, Michael

@michael take it easy. monetize simply means that a developer can offer a few extra features in addition to free plugin version, so this way the developer can actually make a living and offer support more than once per 6 months like this plugin, because people are too CHEAP to donate or support the developer and expect free lunches and lollipops to drop out of trees. Can’t have the cake and eat it too as they say.

Ethical devs never use bait and switch tactics or nag users to upgrade. They only offer some extras or advanced features that are not with the free version. Perfect example of this is the plugin Ajax Search Lite it’s a killer plugin all by itself, no need for 99% of users to upgrade. But there is a pro version with advance features for a $39 lifetime license that helps legit traffic sites to perform even better search function. The dev is making a nice living and able to focus on constantly improving updating and supporting the plugin.

    Make sense?

So for example with this plugin, the option for admin to moderate answers in the democracy polls where users can add answers… this is a sorely needed option for such a poll in order to have some level of quality control and prevent user abuse of polls. Admin poll answer moderation could be such a feature available on a pro version.

    Hi @wordmax,

if things happen, like you describe them, I have no problem with such, if this would be the only way for a developer to enable him to develop these add-ons. Things are anyway different when you have a professional (company) product to work with.

For a lot of developers like me, however, it is just an honor that users choose to work with my development and I just want to make sure that there is no seed brought into this community which will step by step make things worse.

I am not depending on such an income and just have fun to add features. And this is the mind set I would like to encourage.

One good example of such a plugin is “WP Photo Album Plus”!

    By the way:
Version 6.0.1 solved at least my problem.

    Thanks @tkama!

There was a bug in v6.0.0 after huge refactoring of the code. In 6.0.1 this bug was fixed.

    Sorry everyone for that.
