Latest update gave me a fatal error:

Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/**/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ewww-image-optimizer/bulk.php on line 740

    **- home folder removed.

With the plugin installed, I couldn’t access the dashboard. Site function remained, however. Deleted the plugin files via file manager and everything is back to normal.

  • Same here. When I updated the plugin from 3.1.3 to 3.2 on WP 4.7, I have to disable to plugin or I can no longer access dashboard.

That’s an error from an unsupported version of PHP, you might want to consider updating.
I’ll push out a fix soon, but using anything prior to PHP 5.5 is dangerous (IMHO).

Updated to 5.6. That fixed it. Thanks.

I was not aware that the PHP version was not 5.6, so I updated it to 5.6 and everything is working just fine.

FYI, version 3.2.1 was just released, should fix the issue for anyone who cannot upgrade their PHP.
