• I have been using the Thesis theme (v. 1.8) for 6 years without problems. I just tried to access it on my desktop and it was not there.

I’ve moved this to Fixing WordPress where it belongs.

You updated what? The theme? If so, Thesis is a commercial theme and not supported here.

For pro or commercial product support please contact the author directly on their site. This includes any pre-sales topics as well.

As the author is aware, commercial products are not supported in these forums. I am sure they will have no problem supporting you there.

But before we get to that, what’s the URL of your site?

The theme did not eliminate itself. Today I tried to access it for the first time since the latest update of WordPress. It was not there. the URL is https://www.crawfordharris.com/wp-admin/

Your wp-admin is still there. See this link.

Something on your site is 302’ing /wp-admin/ to /not_found

Do you recall what plugins you had running? Did you have any security plugins running?

If I go to appearance, all of the available themes appear, including Thesis but there is no way to access the various options. Before, there was a listing in the left-hand column
that allowed me access to all the controls offered by the theme. That is missing.

I don’t think I had any security plugins running. I have not changed any of the plugins in several months but I have updated those given notice. My activity on the blog has been minimal of late while I research and write 3 more books.

I do have iThemes Security. It is not a new addition, though I don’t recall the last time it was updated.

Do you have a file and database backup? Not “your host has one”, I mean do you have one?

If so try this: via your host’s file manager back up the wp-content/plugins directory into your PC or Mac and on your webserver rename wp-content/plugins to wp-content/plugins-old. Then create an empty wp-content/plugins directory.

That will hard disable all of your plugins. If it’s a plugin then that may fix it and let you login via https://www.crawfordharris.com/wp-admin/

I designed and built my first computer in 1957 with vacuum tubes. I was an assembly language programmer for Delta back in the 70s but I have repented of being a techie. I am now just a user. I doubt I could employ your suggestions. Would Bluehost likely do that for me?

They may, but if you speak or chat with them show them this reply. I’ll write steps that could help them assist you.

    1. Rename the /.htaccess file to /.htaccess-old.
    2. Try to login via https://www.crawfordharris.com/wp-admin/ again.
    3. If that works and you can log in then stop.
    4. If that does not work then rename wp-content/plugins to wp-content/plugins-old.
    5. Create a new empty directory wp-content/plugins
    6. Try to login via https://www.crawfordharris.com/wp-admin/ one more time.

I added the .htaccess step as that should be less impactful and easiest for them to do. Let me know how that works out.

Many thanks. Between visits to doctors and physical therapy, it may be a couple of days. I really should be in more of a hurry, as I am so old that the ringing in my ears is a relic of the Big Bang.

No hurry, to regular visitors your site is fine. ?? Whenever you can get to it is fine.
