  • I guess you’re running a PHP 5.3 or lower version like I do. Seems the code needs a newer PHP version although the author mentions that PHP 5.3 would be fine.

The array brackets are obviously not supported in PHP 5.3 or lower…

Thanks fkemps. Just taken a look and I’m running 5.3.24. From the PHP manual the short tag [] for array is 5.4 and above. Oh well completely useless plugin update. I’ll have to look for an alternative.

Please don’t say that. What you can do is ask your hosting provider to update the version your site is running. The reason you may want to consider that is because 5.3 is no longer supported by its developers. You can see it on https://php.net/supported-versions.php

As you can see 5.3 hasn’t releases ( and won’t ) release any security fixes since mid-2014. Well over a year ago. :scream: Rather scary if you ask me. If you look closely, you can see that PHP 5.4 will be reaching its EOL ( end of life ) security support pretty soon as well.

    Hey folks,

I’m really sorry about the delayed response to this thread!

I’ve just released version 1.11.1 about an hour ago – it’s the most stable version yet, and it’s been tested thoroughly. It works well for me and many other users, and resolves a number of issues that have come up on these support forums in recent weeks and months, including the errors reported here.

Try it out if you’re still using (or are still interesting in using) Portfolio Slideshow – and let me know know if it helps!

    Cheers,
    George
