The latest update caused error messages at the top of WPML translations of pages containing Custom Post.
The pages containing the translated posts di not load correctly and had error messages.

First time to have this issue. It happened immediately after doing the update.
Does this plugin still work wth WPML?

Can not post problem pages in question because am now having to restore the site.

Has anyone else had similar issues?
    And is there a solution?
I do not want to update this plugin after restoring my site until I can be sure.
Have not had problems with this plugin before. Worked perfectly for 18 months until today.

From which version to 1.8.1 were you moving from? The changes between 1.8.0 and 1.8.1 were very minimal so I’m not sure how those could have possibly affected things the way you’re saying above. However, something like 1.7.x or lower may have more potential for this.

We don’t have a solution because this is the first time that I’ve had anything reported for WPML issues in a very short amount of time since the latest release.

That said, we also don’t have anything in our code specifically for WPML. We’re mostly a UI for the register_post_type() and register_taxonomy() functions. It’s kind of more up to WPML to do its thing with post types and taxonomies that it’s able to find registered and ready.

This is not me trying to shift blame in some way, as we love working with other plugin developers, especially ones like WPML, to make sure we’re as compatible as can manage. So if they come back saying that a certain detail that is more our job to handle, needs done, we’re willing to work with that.

So, until we know the source of the issue, I am not sure what to suggest here, but I’m all ears from all parties.

Thank you very much for posting such a detailed reply and so quickly. I really appreciate it.
The problem did not lie with the plugin so I must apologise for any aspersions cast in my post.
The update has completed after I restored my site.
The Custom Post Type UI plugin now works as reliably as it did before even with translated versions of custom post types in three languages across the site.
It seems to work very happily with WPML still. And I am very happy about that because without it I could not manage my site in the way I want.

The problem I had was caused by an issue with another plugin, Updraft Plus.
And this is not the first time to have this happen. When I updated the Custom Post Type UI plugin to its latest version I took a back up of the site using Updraft Plus. And after the automatic backup there were issues with all of the posts. But as I wrote after restoring the site the Custom Post Type UI plugin updated instantly and now causes no problems on my site.

Once again, I am sorry for seeming to blame the Custom Post Type UI plugin. So I want to post this for the record and to reassure other current/future users of the Custom Post Type UI plugin.

No worries and I appreciate the followup with details about what you found for your case. Darn edge cases are always interesting.

Have an awesome rest of your day!
