When I updated The Events Calendar today, my home page stopped working as a static page. Instead, it reverted to a latest posts page, even though Reading is set to a static page. Deactivating the plugin fixes the problem, but now the events calendar is deactivated.

Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks

  • Same problem here. Tried looking through my logs, but the plugin raises a lot of PHP Strict Standards errors, so it’s very difficult to pinpoint the cause of the problem.

This is an amazing plugin and something I want to continue to use, let’s hope a fix turns up soon!

    Hi,
I updated the events calendar plugin yesterday and my blog crashed. (fatal error was all that showed up)
I couldn’t even log in to my dashboard, had to go into the FTP folder and rename the folder to get access to my blog. I re-installed it and once again my blog crashed.
I really liked this plugin and want to continue using it. Do you have any idea why this happened.

    thanks

I had the problem of a ‘lost’ static front page, and found that the Events setting which adds the ‘events‘ into the list of all blog posts was to blame. Setting was checked when I took a look at the updated version, so I unchecked that setting in the Events plugin and static homepage reappeared as normal.

Hope this helps – and thanks for the great plugin, guys.

    Hi all –

Apologies first of all for the disruption. It sounds like you are all experiencing something very similar with the possible exception of Rogerinfocus as I don’t believe the same problem also causes a fatal error.

(If you want to investigate this further Rogerinfocus definitely do create a new thread ?? )

Please know that we have a fix on our radar and that in the meantime you can try the fix proposed by Kelly over here: https://tri.be/fix-for-static-front-page-being-overridden-when-including-events-in-main-blog-loop/

I hope that helps – and thank you for your continued support ??

Freaking Awesome. I’d been banging my head on the keyboard for a solid hour before I found this. BTW, works just fine if you have a Child Theme. Dropped it in at the end of the functions.php and cleared up faster than last week’s rash.

    Thanks!

    Good to hear!

    Hiya Barry…

FYSA, still an issue (just used Kelly’s code on another less-used site.)

    Phil

Hi Phil: you mean you are still experiencing the same issue (as the original poster) with 3.2?

    Indeed.

That’s strange. With WordPress 3.7.1, a default theme and The Events Calendar 3.2 I can’t replicate this – I can set up a static front page and it works without any issues.

Can you confirm you have tried deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default, unmodified theme and does that impact on this at all?

Hi dustjacket, I’m assuming you don’t need further help here and will mark this as resolved. Of course please don’t hesitate to reply/follow up with a new thread if that’s not the case.

    Thanks!
