Next question: how to use different “posts_per_page” in different pages.
For example 3 for one wigitazed page. 9 for the other?

Astrid FP: Latest News is a quite simple widget, so I think that it would be easier to use something like Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails plugin.

There are also similar plugins: Recent Posts Widget Extended, Post Grid, and The Post Grid, so you can select one that best meets your needs.
