• My WP site was recently hacked, and I cleaned up the site as best as I could. However, I am still paranoid that there might be something left that I didn’t get to sanitize.

I uploaded (from within the plugins menu of WP) the exploit scanner plugin v1.4.7 I am comparing the MD5 and SHA1 hash values of the plugin with the latest ones on the plugin website, and they don’t match up.

    Plugin tells me:

    MD5 of exploit-scanner.php: 2e95cfccce6612d88d7cc21ab1e9385d

    SHA1 of exploit-scanner.php: eca0fba4de4ccabff24b1f8466d9d0426408ac4e

    MD5 of hashes-4.3.php: e79f0310fcffcc596af9bba13fd7b4e5

    SHA1 of hashes-4.3.php: bc1487abeb54b0fd550aa3756c6eb9dda5180696

The MD5 and SHA1 of hashes-4.3.php match, but not the ones for exploit-scanner.php

So I erased the plugin from my installation and manually uploaded it. Same result. Am I in trouble?

    Hiya,

I’ve just checked the MD5 and SHA1 sums of all the files, and they match those quoted by the plugin.

What are the values you get, and how are you generating those?

    Thanks

I run a scan, and at the bottom of the page the plugin shows me the MD5 and SHA1 hash codes of exploit-scanner.php and hashes-4.3.php. It shows me:

    MD5 of exploit-scanner.php: 2e95cfccce6612d88d7cc21ab1e9385d

    SHA1 of exploit-scanner.php: eca0fba4de4ccabff24b1f8466d9d0426408ac4e

    MD5 of hashes-4.3.php: e79f0310fcffcc596af9bba13fd7b4e5

    SHA1 of hashes-4.3.php: bc1487abeb54b0fd550aa3756c6eb9dda5180696

The plugin encourages users to compare these generated codes with the ones on the plugin website. When I do that, I discover that the MD5 and SHA1 of exploit-scanner.php do not match the codes on the plugin website.
