I am the creator and admin on several sites and an admin on another site. The site on which I’m an admin only, the jetpack plugin crashed the entire site. Once the plugin was deactivated, the site went back to complete functionality.

On my sites, the Jetpack plugin slowed down any kind of process involved in creating more content, even text entry. I would type a word and have to wait up to 45 seconds or so for the text to appear. All of the slow processing was resolved once I deactivated the plugin.

I hope you can resolve these issues in the next update.

  • I am suddenly having new errors as well. Site has fatal error, white screen of death. Used recovery mode to deactivate Jetpack for WordPress. Site operates now, but without all the Jetpack functionality. Try to reactivate Jetpack and I get this message:

There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

However, I do not get an email with further details about the problem.

    My site is: internetbrothers.org

    Well it’s totally broken…

The Jetpack server encountered the following client error: Verification secrets not found

Since the last update I can’t get past this… I deleted, reinstalled and have the same problem!

    What’s going on?

    Thanks.

    Hi @jeffbloom1967718487,

Do you mind sharing the URL of the site that crashed? We’d be happy to see if we can look further into what happened.

    Thanks,

Hi there, I have what I think is a blog issue that I have spent hours trying to resolve. On every page (not just the blog page) after the content blocks and just above the footer blocks I find a random remnant that says, “Like this: Loading…”

I’ve copied the code below (substituting URL with websitename.com) which might help you. The site isn’t live yet so I can’t send a link.

    <div class=’sharedaddy sd-block sd-like jetpack-likes-widget-wrapper jetpack-likes-widget-unloaded’ id=’like-post-wrapper-165039813-296-5f47564e0f677′ data-src=’https://widgets.wp.com/likes/#blog_id=165039813&post_id=296&origin=websitename.com&obj_id=165039813-296-5f47564e0f677&#8242; data-name=’like-post-frame-165039813-296-5f47564e0f677′><h3 class=”sd-title”>Like this:</h3><div class=’likes-widget-placeholder post-likes-widget-placeholder’ style=’height: 55px;’><span class=’button’><span>Like</span></span> <span class=”loading”>Loading…</span></div><span class=’sd-text-color’></span></div>

I can’t find any widget anywhere to remove!
    Hope you can help.
    Thanks

I think I’ve worked it out now but can’t delete that previous comment, so please don’t worry about it. Thanks ??

    Hi @liesha

Thanks for letting us know you solved the issue.

In future, though, please create your own thread if you need help with something, rather than posting in someone else’s thread. By posting in a thread created by someone else about a completely unrelated issue you make it harder for us to help both you and them.

    Darnell,

The site that crashed due to a faulty Jetpack plugin is: https://batesoninstitute.org.

The site that gets bogged down when typing in new content is: https://store.jeffbloom.net
This issue of slowing down occurs over a relatively short period of time (i.e., after a two or three lines of text). The issue slowly gets worse to the point of having to wait 45 seconds or so for the newly entered text to appear. If I update and refresh the page, text entry is normal for the first couple of lines of text then begins to slow down. I’ve deactivated all of the plugins. The only one that had a longer lasting effect was the Jetpack deactivation, but it, too, resumed the same pattern.

    Hi there,

I wonder if plugin conflicts are causing the issues for both of your sites.

So, for https://store.jeffbloom.net, are you experiencing overall slowdown (site/image loading, etc.) in addition to experiencing slowdown during content creation? If so, have you disabled lazy load and any modules you are not using with Jetpack?

    https://jetpack.com/support/lazy-images/

    https://jetpack.com/support/control-jetpack-features-on-one-page/

You can view your modules here: store.jeffbloom.net/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack_modules

Also, for both sites, if you have not attempted this already, I want to see you can try temporarily disabling all of your plugins (leaving Jetpack active), and if the slowdown goes away, then we can most likely determine there is a plugin conflict.

To figure out which plugin is causing the issue, reactivate each plugin one at a time, and try to reproduce the error after each one that you activate. If you experience the problem after activating a particular plugin, you’ve likely found the culprit. I would try to find a replacement for that plugin, and hopefully, that will solve things for you.

Hopefully, this helps! Please keep me updated on what you find.

    Thanks,

Hi Darnell. Thanks for taking on the issue.

I determined that I could get Jetpack to run if I disabled W3 Total Cache.

Additionally, when I upgraded to Jetpack 8.9 today, I am now able to run all plugins again as I had prior to reporting my fatal errors.

For me, the problem has gone away, but I can’t say specifically what fixed it.

I think I’ve found the issue. The site I’m working on is partly an online store based on an affiliate program. The only browser that supports the affiliate program button is Chrome. In the midst of the slow response times, I’ve noticed (on a Mac) that Google Chrome Helper ends up spiking to almost 100% CPU usage. The only workaround I can think of is to use Firefox or whatever other browser for entering data. And, use Chrome to get the purchasing links through the affiliate button. So far, it seems to be working.

After reporting yesterday that I seem to be back to normal following the upgrade to Jetpack 8.9, today my site is running slow as molasses and getting lots of database error timeouts.

It is also really, really slow connecting to Jetpack Stats.

    Hey @jeffbloom1967718487,

I’m glad to hear that you have found the source of the issue. Please keep us updated with any other findings for posterity or if another Jetpack issue arises.

    Thank you!

Darnell, I have created a new topic. See the following title:
