Latest BadgeOS Update – new features/bugs

  • Noticed the following in the changelog:
    Added: CK Editor – Rich Text Editor for all front end text area
    – I am now seeing a “save draft” button where I didn’t before, but no other rich text editing buttons – is there something else I need to do to activate this feature? What a great addition!

    Added: Meta Box added for attachment on a specific submission
    – I am no longer seeing an option to choose a file to submit an attachment alongside a submission. How do I get it back?

    Added: Meta Box added for attachment in comments
    – I am now seeing some html shortcut buttons when adding a comment to a submission (not sure if they were there before or not) but nothing as far as attaching a file in a comment. This would be fabulous if this is what this means – but how to get it?

    Also, since this latest update the Latest Achievements widget is not rendering properly – the achievement image thumbnail and the title/link no longer align. (the text is way higher than the image)

    OK – I just created a new badge and I now see the checkboxes to choose whether or not to include an attachment option for submissions and comments.

    But the attachment box was there by default before and I need it on all my badges. Now I am faced with going back in and manually editing thousands of badges to get that back. Is there a more efficient way to deal with this? Can there not be a global setting default to on that we could then toggle off individually as needed?

    Hi <eureka345>. I think we could develop a script for you so you can update this more easily. If we created a script, would you have access to your database to execute it?

    Yes, I can access my database to execute it. That would be awesome. Anything that would set every badge (across a multisite, mind you) to accept submission and comment attachments would save me a ton of work.

    OK, visual editor now showing up fine (maybe latest update fixed it); however, after students submit their work, I can only see their formatting on the front end. If I look at it in the dashboard, I have to sift through html to get to their content. Such a pain to read.

    Hi Eureka345,

    We should be able to release an update that will allow the same formatting to display in the back end that we see in the front end. I will keep you posted on this.

    Can you confirm if you would still like a script to enable attachments for all of your achievements?

    That would be great, thanks!

    If the script would work across all sites of a multi-site installation to enable attachments for all submissions, then yes, I would still like that if it’s simple for you to do. If it’s a lot of trouble, it’s not a big deal as many of my clients have taken the time to manually enable.
