Last posts for each category in the homepage

Hello everyone, I’m setting up a blog-style magazine that comes to mountain biking. I have two issues that I would like to submit layout. Currently on the homepage I see a slideshow of the latest articles and inserted below a list of all recent posts themselves.I have set up some pages that will then hold the post of each category (this I have already done a search and I was able to see the posts of the category but not in the way intended).
Problem 1 (Home): I would like that in my home, just after the slideshow of the items recently added, appeared pit (a table) containing the last posts for each category with a thumbnail and a short description underneath and a textual list of other No articles in this category. There are plugins that make this type of scheme or a combination of plugins and html layout that I could use? How to take off my list of items just below the slideshow native of the front page of the theme?
For greater clarity I attach an image containing the desired situation.
Problem 2 (Page Categories): Using the library functions I created a page template that would gather the posts of one category to display them all on the page. The page, however, now appears as an expanded list of the posts, or you can read by scrolling through the posts directly in sequence. I would rather adopt a similar pattern to that of the home, with the last item out and then all the others in that category with the preview box that link to the full article.
I’m a beginner so do not place in advance listed in files that may be useless. If you need anything in particular feel free to ask;)
