Large, unexpected margins

P.S. The blank spaces appear on various pages, on slightly different places. For instance:

(1) Space above footer: https://wp.lancs.ac.uk/prospr/
(2) Space above comment: https://wp.lancs.ac.uk/prospr/2019/01/07/test-title/

I initially thought that the problem could be caused by the comment area. Yet, I disabled the comments, and the spaces remained.

Both of these are the same thing. There is a large margin in the theme styles.
