I manually set updraftplaus to do a backup yesterday. I came back some time later and found some minor error messages but the backup went well into my google drive account.

Today I noticed the space my site takes up is much larger. I do audios on the site so it is a big site anyway but today it was about 5GB bigger.

I have found a bunch of tmp files in the updraft folder prefixed backup_

Are they okay to delete now?

    Hi,

You can delete them whenever you like, yes – but you can also leave UpdraftPlus to delete them; it will delete any temporary files it finds older than 12 hours next time it begins a backup.

The temporary files are created by the zip engine. Usually UpdraftPlus spots what it leaves behind, and removes them when the backup finishes. But some zip engines create filename patterns that can’t be reliably linked to a specific backup, so they have to be left for a few hours to make sure.
