Hi There, we’re encountering some performance issues on a client site due to uncached requests from the WP Shopify plugin.

Header Status Returns: non-HIT’s, sorted by most up top:

    30558 200-“POST XXXXXXXXXX.net/wp-json/wpshopify/v1/components/payload
    2449 503-“POST XXXXXXXXXX.net/wp-json/wpshopify/v1/components/payload
    971 403-“POST XXXXXXXXXXX.net/wp-json/wpshopify/v1/components/payload
    757 404-“POST XXXXXXXXXXX.net/wp-json/wpshopify/v1/components/payload

The first column is the number of requests over a few hours and the 2nd column is the response code. Granted it is a very high traffic site, but the fact that these requests aren’t cached is severely impacting performance.

Is making these requests cacheable this something that can be addressed in a future update? We love the plugin but unfortunately can’t use it until these requests are controlled. Thanks in advance!

(domain anonymized for the public forum but happy to discuss any more specifics/details you need that require access offline)

    Hey there,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I’ll be caching these requests in version 3.0 of the plugin which I’m hoping to have out by the end of the month.

Admittedly, I never ran into this particular issue because I never tested the plugin with such high traffic. However I’ll be doing extensive stress tests for 3.0.

That’s awesome to hear and thanks for the quick feedback, @andrewmrobbins! Totally understand as this is a bit of an edge case due to the sheer volume. We’ll watch for 3.0.
