About a month or so ago, we notices a massive drop in traffic in GA4. Checked everything we could think off and used the usual testing methods. Every checked out, but still only one or three hits to the site, sometimes nothing. Google search console shows hundred of clicks, impressions, and activity.

Updated plug ins, turned off plug ins, created new GA4 account, added code manually, changed to different plug ins. Out of ideas. Site Kit is showing everything connected. We can see the code in the source. GA4 says data collection is active. Tag tester shows all tags firing, pages activated, etc. Still little to no data or real time in GA4.

    Any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks for reaching out @directivemsp. If you enable consent mode on your site, which seems to be the case from reviewing your site, you will need to ensure that users are able to provide consent. Without doing so, you’re loosing all EU and UK traffic by default.

We do have a this guide on the plugin website that provides more information on installing a third party plugin to allow users to provide consent.?Note also that these changes are all part of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) changes.

I’m also happy to check your site once more after you configure a consent management plugin if you wish, to ensure all is working as expected.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

@jamesosborne Thank you for the prompt response. We had consent management plug in, but I guess it wasn’t up to snuff. We have changed to one of the ones recommended. Still no RealTime data. Would appreciate you taking another look and letting us know what you think we need to do.

No problem @directivemsp, happy to assist. I did take a look at your site once more and I can confirm that not only do I see the consent notification on your site when visiting, but it is working as expected from the checks I performed both manually and when using the tagassistant.google.com service (consent default from my location – EEU | Consent granted).

Note also that it is possible that your other consent plugin was working previously, I just didn’t notice any popup or feature to grant consent. With consent mode, visitors are not counted in Analytics from some regions (EEU, UK etc) as it won’t fire until they consent.

Let me know if you have any further questions with the above. Thank you, and have a great weekend.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
