Laptop website view v iMac display

When I view my website on my iMac using either Firefox or Safari, everything looks normal. But seemingly, a div entrenches on the rest of the content (the div is given absolute positioning). And I discovered these people have viewed it on their laptop. Does it have to do with screen resolutions?
