Languages Folder causes Fatal Error

  • Suddently my Blog gives me a Fatal Error:
    Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /www/htdocs/…/wp-includes/gettext.php on line 66

    I found out, that if i rename the languages folder in wp-includes to _languages all works fine.
    Do rename it back an use the proper new languagepack with properly configured wp-config i still get this error.
    And im sure, i have changed nothing there

  • I’ve found 2 other topics mentioning the same error:

    (it has to be something server-related because I just tested today the creation of the “languages” folder and uploading different .mo files and never encountered this error)

    Well nothing of that helped, i can narrow the scope to find the problem, i guess my provider changed sth but i wrote him and ask and he replied that nothing has changed there
