    Hello,

I am using this plugin for the first time and the translation was super easy.

The thing is that the transition from Greek to English or the other way round in each page individually is totally messed up. For example, being on the Greek menu and choosing “Τσ?ι” works ok, but when I’m selecting the English button for the English version of the page or some products, it just takes me to the English homepage.

Even if I try to choose directly after the English page redirection another item on the menu, like “Tea”, it just takes me to the Greek version of it, “Τσ?ι”. Same thing for every translated page from Greek to English.

Is there any way you can help me? It troubles me because this plugin is easy to use and seems promissing and I would love to solve this problem in order to continue using it. Plus, we will add more languages in the future and if this language transition is not working, I cannot image the mess this malfunction will cause.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello there,

Thanks for contacting us regarding your question.

Please make sure that you have turned on “Force language in custom links” in TranslatePress Settings.

Make sure also that there are no redirect rules applied.

If that doesn’t help, the first/next recommended step is the conflict test (ideally in a staging environment):

??Briefly disable all other plugins and enable the default Twenty Twenty theme. Please also disable all add-ons. If this fixes the problem, as it probably will, enable everything one by one, checking each time to see when the problem returns.

Please let us know when you find the conflict so that we can take a look and see what we can do about it.

    Best Regards,

    Anca

    Thanks for your reply.
The “Force language in custom links” is on.
I also enabled the Twenty Twenty default theme and disabled every single plugin but still no luck. Even with the TranslatePress plugin being the only active plugin, there were still the same problems remaining.

    Best regards,
    Vivi

    Hello Vivi,

If that’s okay, you can open a support ticket using our site https://translatepress.com/support/ to ask a pre-sale question. It will be helpful if you put the link of this discussion for us to see the entire conversation.

We will be able to investigate the issue better there.

I would also like to add that on the menu I use the opposite language switcher and it only displays the non default language “EN”.
So when the visitor has selected the English language there is no way to switch to the local language, using the Menu Language Switcher.

When I choose to use both of the language flags on the menu, both of them link to the “/en” version of the site.

Please keep in mind that the “Floating Language Selection” works as expected.

    Hello Vivi,

I’ve noticed that only some products have not been translated. Did you manage to translate those manually by String list?

The redirect to homepage problem seems to be solved, can you tell me how did you fix it?

    Best Regards,

    Anca

    Hello,

Some of the products did not need to be translated because we want them in English in every language. Everything has been translated by clicking the pencil button next to every text.

As for the homepage, right now I have enabled the “Floating language selection” because it seems to be working a bit better, but it’s not the best option for the website. I prefer to have the language change buttons on the menu bar and that exact option is not working good.

    Best regards,
    Vivi
