I say all of this because I’ve had first hand experience. I’ve traveled in several different language regions and have encountered automatic language by IP detection which has often been very frustrating because the sites were often unclear on how to switch to English, I was often required to understand the local language at least a little in order to navigate to the proper setting.

If you feel strongly about IP recognition, at least make it clear how to manually switch to another language without requiring any foreign language skills.
