language switcher not working for WYSIWYG custom field

i have a custom WYSIWYG field. my problem is that the WYSIWYG field does not support multilanguage content, even though i know that this should be possible.
for normal text fields i can have multilanguage content like this:
[:de]german content[:en]english content[:]it looks like this in the edit menu:
https://i.imgur.com/4Nkj6OT.pnghowever, this is not possible anymore for WYSIWYG fields and i think it is related to an update, because i remember that it was possible via the
[:de]and[:en]formatting. however, currently the WYSIWYG field only shows the content in one language and does not work properly when i try to use the bracket notation ([:de]and[:en]).these issues may be related:
