There’s currently a German translation (de_DE) but no German Switzerland (de_CH) translation.

If you would like to contribute one, let me know and I’ll add you to the translation site for WP Statistics.

The German translation is also fine for Switzerland but when I’m running your plugin iits always in English – the general settings are German (Switzerland). How can I make sure that the displayed language is German as well?

    You have two choices:

    – Set your WordPress language to German (de_DE) instead of German Switzerland (de_CH)

    – Or you can copy the de_DE language files to de_CH, but you’ll have to do this each time WP Statistics is upgraded.

    Hi Greg

#1 is not an option for me (currency, number formats, taxes etc.).

#2: I renamed .mo/.po to …de_CH but the module is still in English…..

    Whats next ?

    Best regards

Double check which language you have selected for WordPress (Settings->General).

If you’ve selected the informal variant you may need to use “de_CH_informal”.

Thanks for the hint. I’m using the formal language pack. In which file can I check how your language files should be named ? I guess there is any config – file to check it……

The language config is stored in the database, if you have phpMyAdmin you an check it with the following query:

    SELECT * FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = 'WPLANG';
    Thread Starter hansjuerg.arnold

    (@hansjuergarnold)

This select statement gives me an error or no results. What I can see is the variable WPLANG is de_CH

I’m not sure what else to suggest, renaming the file to wp_statistics-de_CH.mo should have worked.

Double check the filename and make sure there are no typos in it.

    Thread Starter hansjuerg.arnold

    (@hansjuergarnold)

mmh…..I double-checked it more than once and I’m sure that there are no typos…..now I changed the WP language to Spanish or French….your plugin is changing the language……

I tried it on my local install and found the same issue, I’ll look in to it a bit more.

    Hi Greg

Thanks for the feedback. I’m looking forward to see your solution.

    Many thanks

I’ve managed to get it to load on my site but I suspect it’s not the same problem your having. I had a plugin installed that let the admin interface be a different language than the front end that was conflicting with the language file load.

Otherwise the only thing I had to do was rename the file to “wp_statistics-de_CH.[mo/po]” and make sure the language for WP was set to “Deutsch (Schweiz)”.
