• I get the feeling this is so simple and obvious I should know it but for the life of me I can’t think how best to do this…

I am working on a site that needs an english version and a french version. Currently its just a regular old website and the designer has retired so I’ve been asked to convert it to something that can be managed by the individual.

I have the graphics and style and everything nailed and the english pages uploaded but now I’ve come to do the french ones I am at a loss as to how to have the different menu tabs show up. I want the french tabs to show up with a link to the english version beneath them, and the english tabs to show up with a link to the french tabs beneath them. It sounds so simple but I’m totally stuck. Does anyone have any tips on how I can manage this?

Would I be better off to have a fr.subdomain.com and an en.subdomain.com each with their own wordpress install and then just have a text widget in the sidebox of domain.com that links to the appropriate subdomain?

The homepage of domain.com would just be a copy of the homepage of en.subdomain.com so if the user clicked on the English link they would go to en.subdomain.com be see no difference in layout etc
