language links in menu not as submenu?

Hi

I’d like to display language links with flags in the main menu in a bit different way that the default one.

As for now if I use English (default language) and German translation, once I open my site I can just see [flag] English displayed. The link to German is inserted as submenu list item – and thus – not vivible at first glance as my theme displays submenu items as dropdown items (they how up once one hovers cursor over top level menu items).

Is there a way to display all languages links as top level menu items?

And is it possible to hide the language link that is currently active? That makes more sense IMHO…
