    Hi
I have a website with 3 languages (WPML) and would like to import the language as well, so I can segment my list.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks and best regards

    Caspar

  • Hi @leggero,

Thanks for reaching out. At this time that would not be possible, however I do think that would be a useful addition to the plugin. I went ahead and passed this post along internally for our developers to take into review and take into consideration. In the meantime, please let us know if you have any other plugin related questions we can help out with.

    Warm Regards,

Thanks, looking forward to having such a feature.

Has there been any movement on this by any chance? Could really do with this feature too!

Is there any way you could point me to a hook or filter, or anything I could use to include language in what’s imported to MailChimp from WooCommerce?

A useful workaround would be if Country could be imported. That’s what I would use to create the language preference from anyway.

EDIT: Or is there a way to have a hidden field in the checkout form (which I populate myself) that sets the language preference?

    Thanks!

    Hi @simooo,

Thanks for joining the thread. I went ahead and passed this case along internally as well to help get attention to this request. That being said, unfortunately there isn’t a workaround that would add a language to a particular subscriber with the plugin. However, if you want to reach out to the MailChimp support team they would be able to walk you through any options for updating the subscriber location in MailChimp after the particular subscriber has been added to the list. It also may be possible to tweak their embedded form code to facilitate that, but a member of their support team would be best at helping out here. They can be reached following the steps outlined in their KnowledgeBase, there: https://kb.mailchimp.com/accounts/management/mailchimp-support-options#Contact-Support

Thanks – in the meantime please let us know if you have any other plugin specific questions we can help out with here on the forum.

Thanks so much Pearl. I’ve spoken to support and they confirmed that it is not possible to affect the language preference through a signup form field.

If I can just quiz you for one more moment about what the plugin actually stores in the MailChimp database when a customer subscribes from the checkout form:
It seems to me that it’s only name and email address, is that correct?

    Hey @simooo,

It’s good to hear back! The integration will pass back names and email addresses as well as purchase information. This purchase information can later be used to segment the list, send targeted automations, etc. and will appear in an “E-commerce” tab in the subscriber profile in MailChimp. More information about MailChimp for WooCommerce specifically can be found here in MailChimp’s integrations directory: https://connect.mailchimp.com/integrations/mailchimp-for-woocommerce and more information about E-commerce in MailChimp in general can be found here, if you’d like to read on: https://kb.mailchimp.com/integrations/e-commerce/how-to-use-mailchimp-for-e-commerce

That should get things sorted, but please feel free to write back if you have any other questions we can help out with!

    Sincerely,

    Pearl
