Language auto-detect doesn’t work in Firefox

  • I’m blogging in Russian. Copy-and-paste from Word. UTF-8 works fine. IE auto-detects it.
    Firefox has a problem. With Auto-Detect – Russian, it recognizes the text as Cyrillic ISO-8859-5 rather than UTF-8. Is there any way to force Firefox to display the blog in Unicode?

  • Copy-and-paste from Word.

    That’s a big no, no! Spell checking and such yes, then paste it into something like NotePad2 then.. then into the Write Post window.. Also, maybe try turning OFF the RTE (User -> Profile) too!

    Is there any way to force Firefox to display the blog in Unicode?

    I’m not sure about this.. did you ask this over at the Firefox support site? Maybe someone else has an answer for ya.. ?
