When the form submits – it has to call WordPress to verify the form content and if valid then submit emails and store data on to the database.
This is nothing particularity special and will depend on your (un cached) host performance mainly.

What could be improved, from the plugin, is give some ‘feel’ via a spinner to demonstration that it is ‘working’ – that is on the list of things.

I’ve asked my hosts; he want to know how I send. I’m not using a separate SMTP. It seems there used to be a separate page/setting option for this but I can’t find it anymore.

    How is the form sent?

(A spinner would be nice. :-))

There was a separate SMTP option, but on sites where that is not used it has been removed ( and sites it has it removal is recommended)

This is because, if you want to use SMTP email there are plenty of good SMTP email plugins.

Email won’t be slowing things down specifically. Out of the 6 seconds, at least 3 or 4 will be the reload of WordPress required to validate the form.

    Hi Alan,

Sorry, it took a bit to communicatie with the provider. They recommand a separate plugin for SMTP.
But since we’re in the middle of an event I’m gonna try that later.
    It’s working.
    I don’t know how, but it’s working. ??

Thanks for adding the spinner to the list.

It’s nice to see that, although some people subscibe multiple times (probably because of the time lapse) the Registrations show everyone only once.
