• Something odd has been going on for a few months now with my website and I’m not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing. Basically, I used to get..a LOT of spam comments that akismet picked up and I would go through and delete. However, in the past few months, there has been a dire ..lack of spam. (or other comments in general). I don’t have my comments disabled so that’s not it. The only thing I can think is that I changed the layout so that you had to click through to the article (with the read more) to add a comment instead of having the entire post show up on the front page. Is there something wrong with my website or is this normal?

Here are my numbers off my akismet stats:

    2013-09 0
    2013-08 14
    2013-07 30
    2013-06 36
    2013-05 127
    2013-04 345
    2013-03 547
    2013-02 435
    2013-01 495
    2012-12 260
    2012-11 217

    Edit: forgot my website addy

  • To me, all website will get spams – some or all kinds of spams. So, don’t worry as Akismet got your back, you are better off. Akismet will be the job automatically for you. Just try using verification means to your comments. You are safe, fellow.

The only thing I can think is that I changed the layout so that you had to click through to the article (with the read more) to add a comment…

That sounds to me like a good “filter”, of sorts.

If you do not already have a way to monitor your actual hits and know more about who might be coming from where to do what, maybe take a look at “Live Traffic” in Wordfence Security:
