• Hi,

    I am trying to make a really basic look on the Kubrick blog, with basically just customizing the top image (which is currently pink with green text saying “the edible adventures of grapefruitgirl”) – I’d like to replace that bit with my own customized image. How does one do this?

    And secondly, how does one customize the side images of the frame (you’ll notice that at present mine are currently broken).

    Here’s the blog: https://www.grapefruitgirl.com/edibles/

    Thanks SO much for any help you can offer. I’ve been writing on this blog behind the scenes for a while now, and am eager to finally get it coded properly on a very basic level.

    I cant believe this still isnt working. I got my footer to show up, but for some reason my header image just wont show up? Can anyone offer a solution? Please…?

    I really can’t help any further. There’s a reason I don’t use the theme you’re messing with…. there’s nothing easy or customizable about it, and the only piece of info I had to offer I already did: it’s all graphics.

    It would be better and easier in the long run if you accessed https://themes.wordpress.net as I posted earlier; look through the available crop and pick one which has a layout like you want, then tweak color and graphics. There are hundreds of decent themes there, some which have already done the “agonizing” kubrick tweaking for you.

    unfortunately Kubrick is exactly how I want my blog to look but I guess I’ll have to settle for a different look. What template do you use?

    My own that I’ve developed…. all dozen or so of them.

    Many of the themes available at the site I’ve linked ARE based on kubrick: blocky rounded-corners header, stringent width, etc. It’s simply a matter of “unfocussing” while you look at them so you see the bones….

    thanks. i switched templates and it’s been A LOT easier to edit. i think i’m on my way now…

    thanks again =)

    There ya go! Let us see it when finished, okay?

    So I had the very same problem tonight and the solution turned out to be quite simple… no guarrantee that will be for you but here it is;

    When I generated the jpg for my header, the tool I used defaulted the extention to uppercase “kubrickheader.JPG”. All I had to do was rename it lower case “kubrickheader.jpg”. Works fine.

    Good luck.

    I rather like the simple look of Kubrick as well, though I made a few changes… mainly made it plainer.

    However, I also had the same issue with the header image. I replaced the header image with my own, using the same file name. No problems. It shows up… EXCEPT it shows up with another solid color layered over it, rendering my image nearly invisible.

    So, anyone know what chuck of code in which template file is in charge os generating that color block?
