    Greetings Koko Team,

I love Koko Analytics and it has helped save me money (by getting rid of StatCounter Premium), as well as removed all cookies and increased the privacy of my website. Fantastic!

But I have one question. I just received the annual report from my hosting provider, and they are saying my site has a high level of Admin AJAX calls since installing Koko.

These calls are uncached – so my host says that generally, a high degree of Ajax usage can use more server resources and slow my site down.

Can you tell me if there is any setting in Koko to make the rate of calls tunable? Or is there anything else I should do? (If it means my stats are less “real-time,” then that’s OK.)

    Thanks so much!

How did you establish the true number of visitors to be higher / what are you comparing the results to?

    Thanks for letting me know.

    Hi @lapzor,

The true number of visitors is based on many years of historical trends and experience, as well as Koko’s own previous data before I switched over to the custom endpoint several days ago.,,

Since making the change suggested by @dvankooten with version 1.0.23, Koko has only counted a small fraction of the actual pageviews.

Do you know how Koko could be missing so many of the visits when using the custom endpoint?

Is /wp-content/uploads/pageviews.php supposed to be updated on every pageview? (because that’s not happening)

Yet, I can confirm that Koko is absolutely activated and running…

    Thanks!

    Hello @roam92,

That is really strange. Do you have a link to your website so I can take a look at the tracking calls?

    Hi Danny,

    Yes, it is strange indeed!

I prefer not to post the website URL here publicly, but will privately email it to you directly.

    Thanks!

For anyone else reading, this is due to the tracking request being cached by the host. Version 1.0.24 addresses this by adding a cache busting query parameter to the tracking URL.

Thank you! Indeed, updating to the new version 1.0.24 fixed the caching issue and now Koko is counting all site visitors using the optimized tracking endpoint.

Further, my hosting dashboard shows that Admin-Ajax calls have dropped off dramatically, to a fraction of what they were before… Meaning, Koko is now running much more efficiently than previously, and using fewer server resources.

Very happy this got sorted out! Thanks again, also for working with me to improve the plugin.
