While I understand that you have followed Google’s instructions, it seems that their instructions and requirements don’t match up, therefore is it not better to go ahead with the suggestion above, because then nobody will get an error from Google?

I’m using AMP also and Google seem to be stricter with AMP structured data requirements than for regular mobile content.
