    Hi,

I’ve performed a Page Speed Insights test on our site using the Klaviyo integration plugin, and it appears that Klaviyo is being flagged in a lot of places as an issue and is slowing down the site. Are you planning on any improvements and/or do you have any solution or alternative for this?

    Hi @elisagilis

This javascript is loaded asynchronously, meaning it will not block other aspects of your site from loading. However, this does not prevent Google Pagespeed Insights from marking Klaviyo as detrimental to your site speed because it does still need to load prior to your site being “ready”. In 2020, our Signup Form team responsible for this javascript package optimized it for speed and more specifically to not have as large of an impact in page speed tests. While this optimization is always an ongoing process further work in this area is not being prioritized at this time.

Klaviyo’s javascript, which is what gets flagged by Google Pagespeed Insights is responsible for recording Active on Site, Viewed Product events as well as Klaviyo Signup Forms. This functionality can be toggled on/off in Klaviyo’s plugin settings. However, in doing so you would lose these features. Klaviyo’s Started Checkout events will still function as expected even with this part of the plugin disabled.

    Best,
    Klaviyo

@klaviyo that’s not a useful or sufficient answer. Please see:

    https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2018/07/search-ads-speed

Google uses page speed to determine search and ad placement / rank. They recommend using Lighthouse of Pagespeed Insights to check – which means that is what they’re using to determine the site speed. This means that using Klaviyo fully has the potential to actually hurt page rank on a website. My company just signed up for Klaviyo, but we’re still not active on all of our sites – if Klaviyo is not able to address this, I’ll recommend we leave Klaviyo.

@klaviyo While we don’t have the fastest website, the Klaviyo plugin alone drops us from a C to an E on gtmetrix. Time to interactive goes from 2.9s to 7.5, and the speed index goes from 1.6s to 4.3s. Total blocking time goes from 317ms to 437ms. Regardless of whether they’re user-perceived speed issues, these are significant speed issues that the automated tools which determine page ranking use. Klaviyo needs to address this.

@klaviyo we are facing the same issue as @jpstwisted
Please prioritize finding a solution for that issue.

I’m also not impressed by this.

further work in this area is not being prioritized at this time.

    …it really should be!
