• right after I’ve installed your plugin I’ve enabled it’s features and BOOM! a powerful dedicated server went completely UNRESPONSIVE. I could not even login via console, Cpanel etc. the only way to bring it back was by disabling everything on the server, so I can ERASE your plugin. It took me 2 hours of DOWNTIME, until I managed to delete your plugin’s folder, and everything went back to normal!!!
SHAME ON YOU for such a stupid plugin! it costed my greatly!

  • Did you enable the features all at once or one by one ?

If one by one, after enabling which feature did the server go completely unresponsive ?

    one by one.
I don’t remember which one, but I’ve enabled most of them (tho not all), for example file change verification was not enabled.
It is amazing what this plugin can do. I didn’t even think this is possible. what could cause it to do this

Did you enable Scheduled database backups ?

Scheduled database backups and File Change Detection are as far as I know the features that can use the most server resources.

Scheduled database backups can be VERY memory demanding if a table is included in the backup that holds many many many 1000’s of records.
The iTSec plugin backup feature is not a robust backup solution for large databases.

no, I didn’t. the backup feature was not enabled

Ok, find out what was the last iTSec plugin feature you enabled and we can do a proper root cause analysis.

I dont know, and Im really not willing to test it again. I enabled the features in their order, starting from top to the bottom, so it was something at almost the bottom

At the bottom of the Settings page are 2 Sections:

    System Tweaks

System Files [ ] Protect System Files
Directory Browsing [ ] Disable Directory Browsing
Request Methods [ ] Filter Request Methods
Suspicious Query Strings [ ] Filter Suspicious Query Strings in the URL
    Non-English Characters [ ] Filter Non-English Characters
Long URL Strings [ ] Filter Long URL Strings
File Writing Permissions [ ] Remove File Writing Permissions
Uploads [ ] Disable PHP in Uploads

    WordPress Tweaks

Generator Meta Tag [ ] Remove WordPress Generator Meta Tag
Windows Live Writer Header [ ] Remove the Windows Live Writer header.
EditURI Header [ ] Remove the RSD (Really Simple Discovery) header.
Comment Spam [ ] Reduce Comment Spam
Display Random Version [ ] Display Random Version
File Editor [ ] Disable File Editor
    XML-RPC – Disable XMLRPC
Replace jQuery With a Safe – Enqueue a safe version of jQuery
    Version
Login Error Messages [ ] Disable login error messages
Force Unique Nickname [ ] Force users to choose a unique nickname
Disable Extra User Archives [ ] Disables a user’s author page if their post count is 0.

Apologies if the layout screws up.

    I think I got until
Display Random Version Display Random Version
but I believe on the last ones I’ve enabled them all at once, from WordPress Tweaks

Ok, so it looks like we are not going to get any closer to the possible culprit.

Well at least we tried ??
