Is there a plugin that allows me to alter WordPresses default search feature to first act like the AOL Keyword search used to (or still does, I haven’t used AOL in ages).

So for example, in order to help send people to my website and find information, we are using a Keyword system. “Go to site and type ‘directions’ in the keyword search box”.

When they type that in, the website searches the keyword database and checks to see if that keyword exists. If it does it sends them to the desired page (as setup in the keyword system). If the keyword doesn’t exist (or they happened to mis-spell it), it does a generic search. So it’s similar to the Google “I’m Feeling Lucky” only I determine where the user will go if they type a specific “keyword” into the box. So again, also much like AOL’s old (or current) Keyword system.

Does anything like this exist? Or do I need to barge into WPs code to intercept the users searches first and then send them back to the WP search engine if the search term doesn’t return a valid keyword entry. I hope this makes sense. Currently the site is coded in PHP but I want to switch to WP instead. Since the site has been using the keyword system and people like it, I can’t change it and need to see if WP can support it. I’ve tried to search the plugins but using the term “Keyword” always gets the wrong results and I don’t know what else to call it.

Thank you all in advance for your help,

    T
