    Hello,

since updating from 12.7.1 keyphrase, snippet preview and SEO score disappeared on pages and posts.

The SEO title and meta description at Search Appearance -> General -> Homepage are not showing up either.

I am currently running WordPress 5.3.2, Classic Editor 1.5 and Yoast 12.9.1

After rolling back to Yoast 12.7.1 everything shows up again.

Any thoughts on what might cause this?

    Greetz,
    Arjan

  • It should be fixed in the 12.9 update, but it’s not. Millions of people have that problem and we are all waiting for Yoast to fix this serious bug.

I am facing the same problem. After the latest Yoast update (12.9.1), focus keyphrase, Edit snippet, Metadescription box have all disappeared.

I am currently running WordPress 5.3.2, Classic Editor 1.5.

    When will this be fixed?

    Please help

    Same here, exact same issue.
Running WordPress 4.9.13 (we don’t want to update to 5.3.2 due to incompatibilities with other plugins and theme but I see that this is not the issue here)

Is anyone using Rank Math plugin ? If Yoast doesnt resolve this issue, would it be advisable to shift to Rank Math ?

We’re sorry that you are experiencing problems that might be caused by our plugin! I was unable to reproduce the issue in a local test environment with WordPress 5.3.2, Yoast SEO 12.9.1 and Classic Editor 1.5. This typically means that something else is conflicting and causing the issue.

@vanitascorner @lunamr @macmandk As you have a similar issue, please open a new request. That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance specific to your setup. Thanks!

@arjan5005 We would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

    Hi @amboutwe

    thanks for your reply.

I deactivated all non-Yoast plugins and switched to the Twenty Nineteen theme. Unfortunately that did not make any difference. This is how it’s looking:

    https://pasteboard.co/IS8AIRh.png (keyphrase, snippet etc. missing)
https://pasteboard.co/IS8BnJ9.png (homepage SEO title and meta description missing)

As I read through other support posts I see that more people seem to have this issue.

Again, after rolling back to Yoast 12.7.1 – and not changing anything else – everything shows up again.

    Hi @macmandk

I guess you found the cause ??

Following your post I also tested my site in different browsers on a newer device with the most recent browsers and everything works.

So @amboutwe it looks like The Yoast plugin from version 12.8 doesn’t work in older versions of Chrome and Firefox on a Mac.

@macmandk @arjan5005 Thanks for confirming that the issue was related to using an out of date version of a browser. Is there a reason or use case that requires you to use a particular earlier version of Chrome/Firefox?

@devnihil @macmandk @amboutwe The issue at hand indeed seems related to older browser versions. However, the question remains which backwards incompatible changes have been entered in presumably the Yoast javascript source code since version 12.8, seeing that everything regarding this issue was working fine in version 12.7.1.

If you’re running the latest version of WordPress and Yoast SEO plugin where an outdated version of the browser has an incompatibility specific to the Yoast SEO snippet preview, we’d be happy to investigate the issue further.

Therefore, please submit a bug report directly at our development repository with all the information so our development team can look into this further.
