Keyphrase not in SEO title

  • I have seen this several times. Yoast reports that Keyphrase is NOT in the SEO title when it clearly is. In fact, it’s EXACTLY copy and pasted directly from the Keyphrase entry box in the Yoast UI. Every time this shows up, it had nothing to do with the SEO title. Instead, it has to do with the length of the Meta Description. The warning displaying Keyphrase NOT in SEO title is incorrect. The warning should read, Meta Description too short.

    I don’t think this is a local error because I have other websites and see this bug there too. In most cases, I’m just 1 character too short.

    I try to keep my metas as succinct as possible.

    Unless there’s some form of divine intervention hinting at me to change my titles, this sure looks like a bug.

  • I am having the same issues. Yoast 19.3 reported that the keyphrase is not in the SEO title when it was. At the time, it showed red for keyphrase in the SEO title. Then I filled in the meta description and it showed orange for keyphrase in the SEO title, just not at the beginning (it was at the beginning of the SEO title, but not at the beginning of the meta description). Looks like a bug to me.

    Are you both using snippet variable %%title%% in the SEO title? We have an open bug report that our Lingo team is investigating regarding a bug resulting in this assessment being a false positive.

    Yes, I am using the title variable in the SEO title.

We’ve confirmed the problem you reported about the Keyphrase in the SEO title assessment is not working as expected and have created a bug report for our development team.

    The Keyphrase in the SEO title assessment wouldn’t work if the SEO Title field were added with snippet variables. Once you try to add the SEO Title manually via some text without any snippets, the assessment will get passed. We apologize for this bug confusing you a lot.

    Workaround
    You can use the SEO title as text without using any snippet variables to confirm that the Keyphrase in the SEO title is getting passed for the time till we fix this bug. Or, until the bug gets resolved, you can consider the assessment a false positive and safely disregard it.

    Am having the exact same problem on almost all 170 on my posts…I am currently ignoring, but a fix would be appreciated. Thank you Ron for raising the red flag on this.

    And don’t you mean it is a false negative?
