• I type using keyboard shortcuts, and am accustomed to a standard “Ctrl-i on, Ctrl-i off” system where it’s easy to switch in and out of italicized text.

For a while now, WordPress seems to work on “Ctrl-i on, then hit Ctrl-i at least two, but sometimes more, times to turn italics off, or maybe not, sometimes.”

Is this an intentional ‘feature’ of new versions? Is there a setting that can be changed somewhere? Single-keystroke Ctrl-i for italics on, and another turning them back off, is really the best way for things to work for me.

  • The best way to get things fixed is to isolate when it happens and provide all the details of WP version and browser and OS and which editor you are using in a core ticket, so the developers can reproduce the problem and allocate people to work on it. (of course, search first to see if it’s already reported) Maybe you could try it with Health Check plugin installed, so you can easily use Troubleshooting mode to disable your plugins for admin only to make sure it’s not one of them.
