key phrases with ‘&’ are being ignored

  • Hey, I just came across and issue with key phrases with the ‘&’ symbol. It appears that a link will not be created for any key phrases that contain an ampersand.

    The only work around I have discovered is to use the http equivalent &amp ; (without quotes) for each instance of an ampersand in the key phrase.
    The downside to this is that the http version gets stripped out after you save which means that if you want to add any other key phrases or key words after this you have to convert ampersands to the http equivalent again.

    Just to eliminate the possibility of a theme or plugin conflict, I deactivated all other plugins and activated the wordpress 2017 theme but the issue was still visible

    I just realised that the http equivalent would be stripped from my post after the fact. My bad lol.
    Again the workaround I found is to replace each instance of ‘&’ with &amp
