• When i was first given a wordpress site to work on, which was set up on a personal server, in wordpress dashboard, in the top left corner, a button says <home icon>”webb perfomance” (which is the name of the site), if clicked, it shows the option of “visit site”,

now i have tried to set up the same thing for another site, i am left with a button saying <key icon>”my sites”, <home icon>”my blog”

My question is, why is there a key icon? and because my custom (duplicated) theme is activated on ‘network admin’ under the button ‘my sites’, it seems to be ineffective.

Is there a way i can simply change/customize my wordpress setup to just have <home icon>”my blog” as a button in the dashboard?

do i need to set it up again?

Is it because when setting it up though crazy domains, i ticked ‘save in sub directory’, i thought this was referring to ‘alexmosesmultimedia.com/wp1/’, but could it instead save my site as a child to my wordpress activation?

sorry this is so vague and confusing, if you can’t tell, i am incredibly new to wordpress…

    thanks!

  • Sounds like you have enabled multisite in the install with the “key” My Sites menu.

If you are not intending to install a network of sites, then go backwards and try again (avoiding all those “crazy domains” you ticked – lol).

If you have tonnes of content you wish to keep, reversing a multisite to a single site is a pain. I have never done it with cleverness. I offer that you export your posts using WordPress Tools->export menu, then use Tools->import into the new site after it is newly/properly created.
