• I had this plugin working great and then moved everything to a new server. Since then W3T has been trying to load css and javascript minified files that don’t actually exist (I learned this by checking the Console in Firefox browser). I have tried removing the plugin, deleting cache and any left over files from the server, removing transient entries in the database, but once I reinstall and set up minify again I get the same problem.

Please advise on what I need to do to fix this.

  • Are you deleting the files from the manual minify or are you leaving them because that might be the problem. I would do this.

In the manual minify remove all the files.

    Save settings

Check front end and see if it still remains.

Mine is doing the same thing, but there are no manual minify files. It’s trying to minify things from plugins that have long been removed.

There is a manual mode in the general settings. If not then disable minify completely.

Does your error message look something like this? If so, then I’m in the same boat. For the past 5 months, that message shows up every day even though the folder “footnotes” has been deleted for ages.

My Minify settings are currently on Auto, however I’ve tried switching to Manual and confirming the .js isn’t listed in the files to minify. As suspected, it’s not there, so I have no idea why w3 total cache is trying to minify an old file every day.

Yes…that’s it. I’ve found a workaround, although not a proper solution.

I get the filename that it is trying to minify and add it to the list of files in settings that are never to be minified. So far, I’ve added two and the messages have stopped for the last couple days.

I add both the short (name only) version and the long (full path) version of the filename because I have no idea which it wants.

    It seems to be working.

kells, smart workaround! It’s not perfect, but it’s the best solution I’ve seen so far to this persistent bug.

Well the first error has stopped after doing kells workaround, however now I get the message “A group configuration for “include” was not set.” all the time.

Mine keeps finding a new file to complain about. I’m up to 3 files added to the “do not minify” list now.
