• Resolved TWD

    (@twd)

I created a new “Sorry you are in the wrong place ;-( ” page for anyone who tries to access the site at the old /wp-login.php URL.

My understanding was that this is a new feature for this plugin.
I set up /sorry-visitor as the new redirect url.

However, it doesn’t seem to work.
Anybody trying /wp-login.php still gets sent to the default 404 page.

    I’ve purged the cache.
On WP 5.0.2 and latest version of your plugin.

    Any ideas?

  • I have the same problem.

It correctly redirects to the designated page when a user tries to access wp-admin but goes to the 404 page when they access wp-login.

    Try deactivate :

    Autoptimize
    WP Super Cache

pro-tip; you can disable Autoptimize on a per-request basis by adding ?ao_noptimize=1 to the URL.

if the problem is not there at that point, some autoptimize (re-)configuration might be needed to fix this. there are troubleshooting tips and info on how to exclude in the AO FAQ.

    hope this helps debugging,

I have disabled the plugins, but I have not solved anything

I think what people are saying is, that under the box where you enter your redirection URL, it says:

Redirect URL when someone tries to access the wp-login.php page and the wp-admin directory while not logged in.

However, it only redirects for /wp-admin and NOT for /wp-login.php which is what that message implies it would do.

I don’t know if it is actually supposed to do it for both, but it doesn’t. We are not saying the plugin doesn’t work, just that it only honours the redirect you choose when going to /wp-admin

Going to /wp-login.php seems hard-coded to the default 404 page.

I set up a permanent redirect to the URL in cPanel instead, which does overcome this and redirects /wp-login.php to the chosen page.

What Graham (@sandgroper) says is 100% correct.

I tested it on a clean installation of WordPress with no plugins installed.

When you try to access /wp-login.php, it goes to the default 404 page even if you chose to redirect to another page.

The problem is definitely in the plugin itself.
