This plugin works from time to time, but it keeps disconnecting from Instagram, and it keeps telling me the API changes in june 2020 (or so). Which is months and many versions ago.

But instead of notifying me in the backend it shows a horribly ugly red warning in the frontend!

Please remove this waring from the frontend. At least show a cached version from the last updated content and push a message to the backend but this currently is really annoying.

    Hi
could you please explain further about disconnection
you can share screenshots using snipboard.io
    regards

Simular issue, the token keeps expring and just shows a red message on the website to all users.

Does the token not auto renew? Below is the text as its not easily readable.

Error validating access token: Session has expired on Sunday, 22-Nov-20 10:54:25 PST. The current time is Wednesday, 25-Nov-20 02:48:55 PST.

Exactly. If the connections breaks, the function should break gracefully.
This frontend warning is visible for all visitors ans it is unbearable!

Also in the backend there is a message that shows up even when the plugins works! Which is really annoying. So you never really know if there is an issue (unless a visitor tells you because they are forced to see it…)

    Please revise the messaging system.

    HI
thanks for your comments, this is solved discconecting and connecting again the account
    https://quadlayers.com/documentation/instagram-feed-gallery/account
the expiration time was imposed by instagram for data protection.
for next release this procedure could be set as automatic regeneration
    sorry for problems caused
    regards

@beluserra good to hear that this might be resolved in the next release. Many thanks.

However one issue remains which is the appearance of the widget whenever it disconnects (which historically has been very frequent).

It would perhaps be far better for most of your users to hide the widget on the frontend when the token expires/diconnects and instead display a message in /wp-admin or fire an email to the admin address.

The front end appearance of the widget when the token expires is really bad!

It happened again today. I am fed up with this. Please REMOVE the warning with this class: “insta-gallery-alert”!!!!

It is damn annoying to have such an ugly warning in the frontend. We ask you to fail gracefully if the instagram connection breaks!

@quadlayers: NO, you cannot dismiss the warning. Please have a look at the screenshots here. We are talking about the ugly red warning in the frontend.

    hello @phalancs
    please update to 3.1.0
remove and renew your tokens through the Account tab
with this version the tokens should be renewed 10 days after expires

This thread is not about the tokens or the disconnection itself (Instagram is likely to change stuff in the future anyways). Did you remove that red warning in the frontend?

Edit: Oh wait I had updated prior to my post yesterday and the red warning is still there. This thread is NOT resolved.

is not possible to remove the warning as its displayed when there is no cache and the token fails because there is nothing to show

There is no need for the warning to be public, it should only display if you are logged in as an admin. The public does not need to see a big red message telling them somthing has gone wrong.

@quadlayers Of course you can remove it. Why are you saying this, you have put it there in the first place. You find it in this file templates/alert.php

    The backend notice is sufficient.

ok we will move this to the dev team and include this exclusion in the next update
