How do you keep the permalink the same across the original and updated versions? The permalink of the scheduled updated cannot be the same in the back end.

The permalink of the scheduled update is indeed not the same. It’s handled by wordpress and is not really important as the scheduled update shouldn’t be visible to visitors of your site anyways.

The original permalink stays the same because what we are doing is copying the content from the scheduled update back to the original post and the subsequently deleting the schduled update to achieve this exact effect.

You can have a look at the code to see what’s going on.

It would be nice if the temporary page’s permalink would be the same, for example “update”. So instead of example.com/page-permalink/page-permalink it would be example.com/page-permalink/update. It’s easier to use as preview, for example to get approval from third parties.

@flixflix that’s just asking for trouble. What do you propose should happen when there are two updates scheduled for the same page? Do we use /page-permalink/update-2/ then? and what is shown under -2, the update that was created second or the update that is going live second?
