This may be a stupid question, but how do I keep the readers that come to my old Blogger blog if I switch to WP?

I have a WP personal blog, but I haven’t used it for a while due to the tremendous amount of comment spam. I have a Blogger political blog that some people that read and participate in regularly, or have it bookmarked and check in every once in a while. However, I’m a little frustrated by the lack of features on Blogger, and I’d like to give WP another shot, as I like it very much. What happens to the old URL – do I just have to announce it on the old blog before I switch, or what? I don’t want to lose readers.

    Blogger URL: https://lastleftb4hooterville.blogspot.com/

    WP URL: https://www.aliciamorgan.com/wordpress/

    Thanks in advance, Alicia

  • Spam: Can I suggest that you update to 1.5.1.2 ? you can then use IOError’s Bad-behavior plugin. Kills 99.9% of all spam. Dead.

Thanks – I’ll try that when I switch over. I just want to make sure my old readers from Blogger can find me…

I resided on BlogSpot many moons ago, and when I switched to another host and blogging solution I made a final entry through Blogger to my blog(s) that pointed everyone to the new address. If you decide to leave the BlogSpot blog up for a while, another option is to edit your templates to display a message at the top stating this, that will then appear on all pages of your blog.

Thanks! That will work for me.
