Keeping Getting WP Update Reminder

    I have two blogs, and in the admin panel I keep seeing a “1” next to updates, indicating there is one, but what I see is this:

    You have the latest version of WordPress. You do not need to update. However, if you want to re-install version 3.2.1, you can do so automatically or download the package and re-install manually:

    I even did an automatic re-install on one of them to see what would happen. It said the update was successful, but the same update number and message came back right away. It’s more annoying than anything, not a super serious problem, I don’t think, but I’d love to be able to figure out how to get rid of it.

    For what it’s worth, one blog has the Mystique theme while the other uses Dirty Blue.

  • Are you sure it’s not a plugin or theme that has an available update? If it mistakenly shows a WordPress update is available, I don’t think it would show you the correct version number as it is doing.

    Thanks, Big Bagel, for pointing that out, and I’m sorry it’s taken me a while to reply. I have done updates for themes and plug-ins before, but because I was so distracted by the message about the WP update, I didn’t notice that indeed there were updates for the themes for both my blogs. For one blog, the theme isn’t one I’m using or intended to use, so I just deleted it, and that got rid of the annoying “1” in updates. However, for my other blog, the update was for the theme I use, which is the very popular Mystique. I did the update, but that completely screwed up the look of my blog. A similar thing happened the last time they updated it, about a year ago, and it took me about a month to straighten it all out. The new look didn’t impress me much,anyway,so fortunately I was able to download the old version and get my former “look” back. Of course, now that “1” is there, so I’ll just have to live with it from now on.

    Also, though, that “You have the latest version…” message is still there on both blogs, and presumably on everybody’s, and it just seems odd for it to be there.
