Erik, can I remove the spam emails from the Inbound message list? Have your plugin and the b8 findings been stored?

Or is it better to leave them there in case I want to rebuild a b8 dictionary again?

In general, you can delete the messages whenever you want, as long as they are in the correct “folder.” B8 has its own database of tokenized words and their “spamminess” scores, and it doesn’t rely on what’s in the inbound messages.

The reason for recommending deletion only when they are in the right “folder” is that b8 undergoes a learning and unlearning process for spam detection. Moving the email between spam and inbox in Flamingo triggers this process. Deleting it when it’s in the wrong place would cause you to miss the opportunity to build a robust token database.

If you want, leaving about ten spam messages and ten non-spam messages is a good idea (and if they are localized, even better). B8 needs to build a database since it operates on lexical affinity. Ultimately, the Bayesian filter is a statistical tool to calculate the likelihood of something being probable or improbable, so providing it with a solid foundation to build its database is excellent.

    Got it. Thanks!

4 days of catching spam resulted in 824 spam messages. Looks like I’m spammers’ favorite place…

WHAAAT? >800 messages! Looks quite strange and it had happened to me to sites that didn’t have the “minimum” security headers. Please give a try enabling the options “Enforce user protection” and “Enforce WordPress protection” and let me know, if it works I’ll explain what’s going on.

Thanks for the tip. I have activated it. I’ll see if there is any difference in the next couple of days. Or does it not have an immediate effect?

Should have an nearly immediate effect, this is my conjecture, I think there are servers that scan the sites and collect them based on some criteria, and others that then a few hours later send out the email directly to the endpoints and bypassing completely the website and the form.

Tomorrow I will know more. But in the past 18 minutes only one spam message.

I’m already happy they all don’t go through lol

ah good! that means only 80 spams per day (1440/18) and it would mean to have reduced spam by 90% with a single option enabled.

Is a result that still crappy but already a little better
