    Hey Everyone,

Is there a way, besides using a plug-in, that I can make WordPress not subscribe a newly registered user to the main/primary blog by default?

I have been searching around the code, but have been unsuccessful at finding the code I need to change. If a plug-in is the only way I can do this, what plug-in would you recommend?

    Thank you in advance,

    -Danny

What roles or capabilities do you want new users to have? Or rather, what capability do subscribers have that you want to remove? You can create a new role, but it might be complicated without a plugin.

This is a podcast site I’m creating for a college. The main/primary account on our wordpress page is the admin account. Every account created after that is going to be for teachers/instructors, who will each have their own page. However whenever they create their account, they are automatically subscribed to the admin blog on top of receiving their own page. Which is something the college does not want.

New users can be registered at whichever level you choose (settings/general) you might select Author or Editor if users are to create or edit posts or pages.

if you need to tailor what part of the backend is visible to a default user role, you really should go with a plugin like Adminimize and or User Role Editor.

I also have css code for much of the wp admin area. If there’s anything you need to hide beyond what thoses plugins will hide, just let me know. But best if you don’t have to do that, it gets confusing when using plugins and codes to accomplish the same things, easy to loose track of which is doing what.
